Update!

Well...I decided not to have a blog schedule because it's stressing me out. I literally don't know where to start when I get home from school. I would have homework, then I have to blog, I have to watch hockey (yes, hockey is a big part of my life ok? xD) and I need some time to read too.

I want this blog to be about books, my inspirations, my stories...Basically, my life. So, I'm going to do just that from now on. If I don't have time, I don't have to post anything because no one is forcing me to do it.

Synopsis: All my life I never gave my heart... I was always going to marry him... I didn't love him, but... He's my best friend. AND NOW....Well now everything has changed. ~Bethany~ Bethany always thought she would be marrying Raiden when that time came. He never was one who was going to settle down, so Bethany just assumed the arranged marriage planned when they were sixteen was always destined to happen. But that all changed when Raiden found Tai. Bethany is now free to open up her heart and Tai's ex Jordan is proving to be sweet, loving, and respectful of her hesitations. The only problem is Bethany just doesn't know how to give herself over to love. Jordan is a moron. He knows that. He cheated on his fiancée Tai with her own mother. When he goes to Aishan to bring her back from certain trouble, she declines. Needing his own break to clear his head he chooses to stay. That was how Bethany entered his life and he now completely understands what Tai means when she says she wasn't his one, because Bethany...Well she is. About the author:

I am a Paranormal/Fantasy Adult Romance Author. I’m twenty-nine years old, but will be twenty-nine in May. I am a Navy Wife and a mother of two. My daughter was born December 4, 2010 and my son was born July 18, 2013. My husband and I have been married for almost seven years, but we have been together since our junior year of high school and we have known each other since 8th grade, yes a long time. I am a Florida girl at heart, but since getting married I have lived in Washington, South Carolina, and our latest move Connecticut. I hold a B.A. in Multimedia Journalism with a minor in Political Science from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. Writing is something I love and since I am blessed to be a stay at home mom I thought I would try my hand at getting the stories in my head out and see how far I could go. I tried a few years ago to go through a Literary Agency, but it went nowhere. The self-publishing market was just starting to get hot so I self-published two books mainly for family and friends. I then discovered the world of New Adult. I wanted to stick with my paranormal roots and began thinking up story ideas that took on not only a paranormal element, but a fantasy element as well. My Motto: Not your average Fairy Tales. So, that is me in a nutshell. I am a little crazy and simple and I love my life and my family.

Review: To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

Genre: YA Contemporary Romance
Publication date: April 2014
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers
Read: October 2014
Pages: 355
Rating: 5/5

Summary:
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters: her first kiss, the boy from summer camp, even her sister's ex-boyfriend, Josh. As she learns to deal with her past loves face to face, Lara Jean discovers that something good may come out of these letters after all.

My review:
First things first, I've been wanting to read this book since it first came out but I hesitated. After reading the summer I turned pretty trilogy, I was really mad and I didn't know if I could read another Jenny Han book. I mean don't get me wrong, her writing is absolutely amazing but the ending of that trilogy just didn't make me happy at all. So, I pretty much ignored this book every time I go to the bookstore. Then, my friend bought it and she said it was really good so she lent it to me.

I started reading it right away and I was surprised I was actually into it from the beginning. I didn't want to stop reading but I was at school and I had to focus on what the teacher was saying you know? But after that, I got busy after school and the next day and the day after that, so I always had to read before I went to bed. Finally last night I told myself I wasn't going to sleep until I finish reading this book and so I stayed up until 2 am when I had to go to work hours later. ahaha...(what books do to us readers) AND THEN I TURNED THE PAGE AND I REALIZED IT WAS THE END! Are.you.kidding.me? I was really pissed off again. Is it just me or Jenny Han's endings just make me mad. The difference about the summer I turned pretty, I pretty much hated the love triangle and I didn't give it a high rating. This novel though, I loved it so much that I didn't realized I was near the end and when I turned the page and saw "acknowledgements" it just ruined my mood. I was freaking out for a good fifteen minutes until I convinced myself that there will be a sequel to this book. I was so relieved when I found out there will be a book 2. Problem is, I have to wait until April 2015.

OK! Let's talk about the book now shall'we?

“When someone's been gone a long time, at first you save up all the things you want to tell them. You try to keep track of everything in your head. But it's like trying to hold on to a fistful of sand: all the little bits slip out of your hands, and then you're just clutching air and grit.”

I love love love Lara Jean. I can really relate to her. She's like my twin, my best friend. We think the same way and I just really connect with her character. I don't write love letters but I've been in the same position as her. Well kind of... I liked this guy but then my friend liked him too and the guy seemed to like her and I always feel jealous. So, I decided to just be happy for them and not ruin my friendship with both of them. It sucks to let a guy you really like go but sometimes you do it for the best.

I also really like Josh and I really shipped him and Lara at the beginning but then I got to know Peter and I completely fell in love. He's not like as bad as others say. Sure, he can be a jackass but he's so funny and nice. There's more things I want to know about him that I didn't have a chance to know because this book ended too quickly. I can't wait for the sequel because I want answers to all of my questions! I really want to know what will happen next with him and Lara. I just hope Jenny Han won't ruin the ending of this duology or trilogy again for me because I really want this story to end well. I really liked Lara's younger sister Kitty, she adds something in this story that I really appreciate. I really like the characters in this book and like I said, I can't wait for what will come next. That's pretty much what I can say right now. I highly recommend this book, you'll enjoy it, I know I did.

Wednesday: Update!

I finished reading To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han last Sunday. My review will be posted tomorrow. I haven't been reading much because of school. Although, I am participating on the Trylle Trilogy re-read on Goodreads and hopefully I can at least finish reading the first book before the end of this week. I'm really sad because I have to wait until next summer to get a paperback copy for the last three books of the Sea Breeze Series by Abbi Glines. I'm really torn, I don't know if I should buy the ebook now or wait until next summer. I'm saving money and I don't want to buy the book twice.

Monday: Book Recommendation!

Genre: Contemporary Romance, YA
Publication date: June 2009
Publisher: Little, Brown Book For Young Readers
Read: January 2014
Rating: 3/5

Summary:
"Don’t worry, Anna. I’ll tell her, okay? Just let me think about the best way to do it."
"Okay."
"Promise me? Promise you won’t say anything?"
"Don’t worry.” I laughed. “It’s our secret, right?"

According to Anna’s best friend, Frankie, twenty days in Zanzibar Bay is the perfect opportunity to have a summer fling, and if they meet one boy every day, there’s a pretty good chance Anna will find her first summer romance. Anna lightheartedly agrees to the game, but there’s something she hasn’t told Frankie–she’s already had her romance, and it was with Frankie’s older brother, Matt, just before his tragic death one year ago.

TWENTY BOY SUMMER explores what it truly means to love someone, what it means to grieve, and ultimately, how to make the most of every beautiful moment life has to offer.

Quick review:
I rated it a 3/5 because I was hoping for a different ending. I was disappointed because what I expected didn't happen. However, overall I really enjoyed reading this book. It isn't that long, it's about 290 pages. I think the problem about this book is that it was too short for me and I wanted more. It isn't a bad thing. It means the book was good enough for me to ask for more. I don't know a lot of people who have read this novel which is sad because this book deserve to be read.

Review: Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Genre: New Adult
Publication date: August 2014
Publisher: Atria books
Read: October 2014
Pages: 322
Rating: 5/5
Summary:
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her. Never ask about the past. Don’t expect a future. They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.
Hearts get infiltrated. Promises get broken. Rules get shattered. Love gets ugly.

My review:
I didn't know what to expect from this book. I never read a book by Colleen Hoover but a lot of people said she's an awesome author and her books are all amazing. You can say I had high expectations on this novel. After reading "Beautiful Disaster" by Jamie McGuire, I didn't know if I was going to like Colleen Hoover's books. I don't know why. I'm just a big Abbi Glines fan that I feel like no one can beat her writing. But I'm so happy I picked up this book though because I really enjoyed reading it. Probably not as much as I enjoyed Abbi's series but Ugly Love was a really good read.

"Love isn't always pretty, Tate. Sometimes you spend all your time hoping it'll eventually be something different. Something better. Then before you know it, you're back to square one, and you lost your heart somewhere along the way."

One of the things I really liked was the way Tate and Miles first met. I don't know if it's just me but I thought that scene was hilarious. I really liked Tate's character because I find her different. I honestly haven't known a character who's like her. You know sometimes you compare some characters you know who are almost alike. In Tate's case, I don't remember any character who's like her and I think that's a good thing. I understood all her decisions and it was really easy for me to put myself in her place.

“I’m terrified to lose him for good, so I sell myself short and take what I can from him, even though I know I deserve better.”

I honestly thought I was not going to like Miles. I started comparing him and Travis Maddox. The difference is in this book, there is no love triangle or such. That's a good thing because I hate love triangles. Miles can be annoying at times but the mysterious side of him just makes me like him a lot which was not the case with Travis. See? I'm comparing them again. I just had so many problems with Travis I just had to say it. I'm sorry if you end up liking Beautiful Disaster or Mr. Maddox, I just dislike him. Ok! Back  to Miles. I know it's hard to recover from what he went through but I think six years without dating or even trying to be in a relationship is shocking. I might be wrong because I never went through those situations but I'm happy Tate made him happy again because I was starting to feel really bad for him to the point where I was going to start crying. Yep!

The other characters I really appreciated was Cap and Corbin. Cap was just a really nice man and very understanding. Corbin was such a good big brother. Those two characters were a "plus" in the story.

Wednesday: Update!

Hello!
I've been really busy with school lately but I've finished reading my TBR for this week. I really enjoyed reading Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover. I will post my review on it tomorrow. I just finished reading La Mort Du Roi Tsongor by Laurent Gaude this morning in my French class. It was ok, it's not really my type of story.

I also wanted to say that I'm participating at the 50 000 words in a month thing on Camp NaNoWriMo. I'm so excited but also really nervous about it. I mean, 50 000 words/ a novel, wow! I hope I can do it with all the school works I'll have.

Monday: Book Recommendation!

Genre: YA Contemporary
Publication date: June 2012
Publisher: Dial Books For Young Readers
Read: April 2014
Pages: 394
Rating: 5/5 stars

Summary
"One thing my mother never knew, and would disapprove of most of all, was that I watched the Garretts. All the time."

The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, messy, affectionate. And every day from her rooftop perch, Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs up next to her and changes everything.

As the two fall fiercely for each other, stumbling through the awkwardness and awesomeness of first love, Jase's family embraces Samantha - even as she keeps him a secret from her own. Then something unthinkable happens, and the bottom drops out of Samantha's world. She's suddenly faced with an impossible decision. Which perfect family will save her? Or is it time she saved herself?

A transporting debut about family, friendship, first romance, and how to be true to one person you love without betraying another

Quick thoughts
I read this book right after I read Anna and the French kiss and I really really enjoyed it. The romance is so cute and the Garretts are just so fun and so down to earth. I love the characters and the story in general. If you haven't picked this up yet, what are you doing? GO GO GET IT!

Review: Defining Moments by Dori Lavelle

Genre: Romance
Publication date: August 2014
Pages: 208
Rating:

Summary:
Secrets. Lies. Betrayal.

How much heartbreak can one heart take?

Melisa Dane has made it through the worst. Her heart was broken, but Florian Dane, better known as “Heat”—and the man of her dreams—returned to mend it. Now, with her family almost complete, Melisa is ready to sit back and enjoy life.

But fate isn't done with her yet. The perpetual smile on her face freezes when the second man to steal her heart shows up in her life once again. Scott Bergfeld, the husband she buried and grieved for years ago, is not dead, and he comes back bearing secrets.

Heartbroken and confused, Melisa tries to find answers to questions she never thought she'd ask, but what she learns throws her life into turmoil. Soon, cracks start to form in her marriage with Heat. As her heart is torn into two halves—between the man she loved first and the man she married first—she comes dangerously close to having her whole life destroyed again. How many people will end up getting hurt? This time, does she have the strength to make it through?

My review:

“Life goes on. People don’t always stay in your life forever, no matter how much you need them.”

I really admire Dori Lavelle’s writing style. I like the fact that the story wasn’t happening too fast because it gave me time to cherish every chapter, every moment and every word. I honestly could’ve read this book in less than two days but I took my time because I didn’t want it to end right away. Now that I finished the book, I am so happy with how things ended.

“The best way to keep him close was to keep him at a distance…”

Ben was just the way I expected him to be. It’s hard to see your biological parents after finding out that your real mom had sent you away when you were born. I like how the author didn’t rush his situation. It wouldn’t be realistic if he just accepts everything in just a few months.

“Scott never failed to make her feel like the only girl in the world.”

Scott. I didn’t know what to expect from him. At first, I was really confused like Melisa. I didn’t know if I should be happy that he was alive or mad because he lied. When I read the flashbacks, that’s when I fell in love with Scott. He was romantic and sweet.  I didn’t really care if he lied anymore, I was just happy he was there and I was hoping Melisa would give him a chance to explain. Then the bad news happened and I just… I stopped reading for a moment and tried to register the revelation. If I had to change one thing, it's that.

“…but the truth was, when someone hurts you, you don’t just stop loving or caring about them. You might lash out at them, walk away or even cut them out of your life, but the love remains with you for days, months, even years before it fades or transforms into something else.”

Melisa and Heat’s love story is so inspirational. They found a way to be together and be happy even after all of the things they have been through. They went through a lot to be together and to be happy. Even if Melisa is different from my personality and is way older than me, it was really easy for me to put myself in her position. It never ceased to amaze me how words can make people experience a fictional character’s life.

Moments in time and Defining moments gave me hope. These days, a lot of couples break up because they can’t stand arguing or fighting against each other. They don’t try to fix their problem…well sometimes they do but they end up giving up. The only solution they find is separation or divorce. Melisa and Heat went through difficult times but they love each other and when a person truly loves someone, they don’t give up on them, they fight for them. They don’t give up especially if they know the person is still in love with them. Relationships aren’t perfect and there will be many obstacles along the way but to make them last forever, you have to make sacrifices. Melisa and Heat are just fictional characters but I felt like they were real people and they affected me in a good way. I learned so much about life, relationships, friendships and even depression. I praise and I thank Dori Lavelle for writing astounding love stories that can change someone’s point of view on life.
I really recommend this book!!!

About the author
Dori Lavelle, is a mother, wife, and a sucker for happy ever afters and mint chocolate. Give her a great romance novel and a mug of hot chocolate and she'd be one happy woman.
Growing up, Dori read a lot, and when she wasn't happy with a particular ending, she wrote a different one, just for herself. Before long, she was writing stories when she should have been doing homework. The time has come for her to share the stories she cooks up in her head.

Wednesday: Update!

I finished reading "Defining Moments" by Dori Lavelle and I will post my review on it tomorrow. I really recommend Dori Lavelle's books especially if you're looking for a quick read. They're just so good and you'll fall in love with every male character...just saying...

I didn't really read "The graveyard book" by Neil Gaiman because I've been quite busy with school work.

Also, I've been watching the blind auditions of the Voice and the coaches are just so funny!!! You guys should watch the show if you aren't already. The next episode of Bachelor Canada is tomorrow and I can't wait.

Ok, so I'll leave you guys right now and do some homework. Talk to you guys tomorrow :)
