Weekly & Monthly Wrap Up!?

This week:
I read To Breathe Again by Dori Lavelle, it's the third and final book of the Learning To Live Again Series. I absolutely loved how Shaun and Kelsey's love story ended. My review is on Goodreads and Amazon if you'd like to read it.

I finally finished reading Prodigy by Marie Lu and I felt my heart broke after reading it. I also started Champion but I haven't finished reading it yet.

The third book I read this week was Losing it by Cora Carmack and it was PERFECTLY INCREDIBLE, AMAZING, FUNNY, CUTE, SWEET! I LOVED IT! I'm hoping to post my review as soon as I can this week.

This month:
I read seven books: Le Survenant (The worst book I've ever read for school and you know what? I failed my exam), Royally Lost (My review), Frostfire (Hopefully I can post my review this week as well), Entangle (My review), Prodigy (review coming soon) & Losing it (review coming soon).

Review: Entangle by Veronica Larsen (Hearts of Stone #1)

Genre: Romance
Publication date: December 1st, 2014
Read: February 2015
Pages: 248
Rating: 4/5

Summary:
It begins small.
His smoky blue eyes strike hers until the air between them flickers.
Her whispered suggestion blows the spark into a flame.
A guarded heart. A relentless pursuit.
An insatiable chemistry that yields to a torrid affair.

Alexis Stone
I tried to do things the right way. I wore the big white dress and rode off with Prince Charming. Then Charming changed his mind. Now I'm left to face the truth. I haven't moved on, not because I'm not over my ex but because I've been closed off to anything new.
Enter Leo. A gorgeous, blue-eyed specimen of a man. Tenacious in a way that stirs my desires alive for the first time in years. He also happens to be my newest employee.
I have two choices, I can either edge around the intense chemistry between us or walk right through it. I've never been afraid to go after what I want, but nothing can prepare me for what's on the other side.

[A standalone romantic drama. First book in a series of interconnected novels. Contains explicit content.]

My review:

“I guess the mind simply wants what it wants.”
Allow me to begin by stating that I truly loved this book. I was determined to finish Entangle because I had to post my review within three weeks. I was so happy because it was really easy to read and the story was very interesting.

“Because love makes you crazy. We become fools that think love, in and of itself, is enough to fix broken things, broken people.”
I loved Alexis, she was a strong, sassy and beautiful woman who was frightened of being heart broken again, that was why she didn't give in easily. I realized why she was like a bit cold and serious at times considering the fact that she was divorced and had a terrible childhood. I wasn't bothered with the way she acted before, during and after her time with Leo which was good because who would want an annoying main character right?

“Because our love will be worth baring our souls for.”
Leo was a genuinely good man. At the beginning I thought he was a player and there were going to suffer a deal of jealous ex-lady friends who will try to destroy the relationship between him and Alexis. But no. There was one, but that was it. Leo was such a patient and romantic person. He and Alexis had been perfect.

I’d like to experience more about Alexis' past. I wouldn't want flashbacks, but I’dd want to know more about what happened to her and her mother. I hope I'll know more about her family issues in the next book with her sister Emily.

Lastly, I really recommend this book to all readers who’s looking for a sexy and romantic story. This is the author's debut novel and is the first book of the Hearts of Stone series.

TBR for this week

Happy Sunday everyone!

So, this week I'm planning to finish To Breathe Again by Dori Lavelle. I'm also planning to read this French book I borrowed from the library. I'll start reading Innocent Assassins by Pema Donyo.

That's it...

Well... I actually really want to finish Prodigy, I don't know why I still haven't finish reading it yet. The book is not bad, it's just that... I don't know, I'm in the mood for Contemporary lately. Hopefully this week I'll be in the mood for Dystopia.

Review: Royally Lost by Angie Stanton

Genre: Contemporary Romance, YA
Publication date: May 6th, 2014
Publisher: Harper Collins
Read: February 2015
Pages: 336
Rating: 4/5

Summary:
Dragged on a family trip to Europe’s ancient cities, Becca wants nothing more than to go home. Trapped with her emotionally distant father, over-eager stepmother, and a brother who only wants to hook up with European hotties, Becca is miserable. That is until she meets Nikolai, a guy as mysterious as he is handsome. And she unknowingly finds herself with a runaway prince.

Nikolai has everything a guy could ask for-he's crown prince, heir to the throne, and girls adore him. But the one thing he doesn't have...is freedom. Staging a coup, he flees his kingdom and goes undercover on his own European tour.

When Nikolai and Becca meet, it’s their differences that draw them together. Sparks fly as they share a whirlwind of adventures, all the while dodging his royal guard. But Becca's family vacation ends in a matter of days. Will Nikolai and Becca be forced to say goodbye forever, will his destiny catch up to him, or will they change history forever?

My review:

This book was a really quick read. The story was really cute and a little cheesy but not too much. It reminded me a lot of "Just One Day" by Gayle Forman which by the way is a really good book, you guys should check it out if you haven't read it yet.

Nikolai was really sweet and I just loved him from the start. I don't have a lot of things to say about the main characters honestly. I just liked the both of them and didn't have any problem with their character. For the secondary characters, I really wished Alexis, Nikolai's sister, was more involved in the story. When she was mentioned, I really wanted to know more about her because she seemed like the type of girl who liked to have fun and it would've been awesome if she and Becca became good friends.

I love stories that takes place all around Europe just because I really want to travel over there one day and maybe meet a prince trying to escape? hahaha so not happening xD

Like "Just One Day", there's a lot of Europe history in this book. I liked learning about their History and read about a love story at the same time. It was pretty cool.

I recommend this to anyone who loved Just One Day by Gayle Forman, anyone who wants to know more about the European History or people who likes traveling.

Release Blitz #4 : Forbidden Nights by Lauren Blakely

She has been the star of his dirty dreams for years.
Sexy hotel CEO Nate Harper has lusted after his good friend Casey Sullivan for a long time, and she’s cried out his name in pleasure countless times in his fabulously filthy fantasies. But even though he’s quite skilled at pleasing a woman, he won’t act on his intense desire because he knows he’s no good for her. After the kind of hurt his ex inflicted on him, he’s a committed playboy for life, and Casey only wants true love.
All that changes one hot night when she comes to him with a proposition he can’t resist — she wants him to teach her to be submissive in the bedroom. Casey soon learns how very much she likes letting go of control to him. She’s never been more turned on in her life than she is in Nate’s arms. And he’s never been more taken by a woman.
The only trouble is as she experiences what it means to let go, he starts to experience what it means to feel again…And the lessons in seduction threaten to turn into so much more than either one bargained for…
What happens when years of desire and lust ignite a passion that can’t be denied?

Excerpt:
As soon as Bryan and Kat left, Nate shut the door, then locked it. She glanced quickly behind her at the window that provided a view of the sea of rabid fans. The stadium shook with excitement. Cheers from the crowd vibrated throughout the house of Ruth. Nate stalked down the three steps separating them. When he reached her, a vein twitched in his neck. His mouth was a ruler-straight line. His jaw was set hard. His stare undressed her.
“I was wrong,” he said. Each word possessed a hard edge.
“Wrong about what?” Was he talking about the dress? Or about wanting to be her teacher? God, she prayed he wasn’t backing out.
“I was wrong about tonight’s lesson. It’s not spanking.”
“What is it?”
“It’s role-playing.” His voice was hot and rough. His dark eyes prowled over her body.
“What kind of role playing?” She didn’t even bother to hide her nerves, but the  nerves also excited her. Or maybe he was simply the one who excited her. It seemed whatever he did turned her on. The fact that he was standing here, a solid mass of muscle and strength, of extreme and utter sexiness, sent shivers across her skin. She drank him in: the wavy mess of his golden brown hair, the stubble lining his jaw, the exposed patch of skin on his chest where the top two buttons of his white shirt were undone. All of it, all of him, made her tremble with want.
He took one step closer, and reflexively she backed up so her spine hit the wall behind her. She was caged in, and against her better judgment, she liked it. She liked the fact that it was starkly quiet inside the suite, and that it was intensely noisy outside, a white noise that masked all that she was feeling.
“I’m going to be playing the role of the jealous lover,” he said, his voice still laced with the same frustration she’d picked up on earlier. Was he annoyed with her?
“What do you mean?”
“I’m the jealous lover who can’t stand the thought of his woman wearing a gorgeous, stunning, absolutely fucking breathtaking dress on a date with another man.”
A wild thrill rushed through her veins from his words and what they meant. “But I thought you didn’t like the dress?” she asked, coyly, playing along.
He lifted his hand and brushed the tips of his fingers against her wrist. She shuddered from that one subtle touch. Her body begged for more, and she was almost ashamed at how much desire flowed through her bloodstream right now. She hadn’t been completely aware of how very much she had wanted to see him tonight, of how truly disappointed she had been for the first eight innings that he wasn’t here by her side. Now that he was here, she wasn’t sure how she’d survived the game without him.
He brushed his fingers along her arm, across the crook of her elbow, and up to her shoulder. Goosebumps rose in his wake.
“I don’t like the dress if you wear it for another man,” he said, keeping his eyes locked on hers the whole time. “And sometimes that means I’m going to act like a dick and tell you I don’t like the dress at all.” He brought his hands to her hair and she wanted to cry out because it felt so fucking good to be touched by him like this, with hands that were both tender and completely possessive. He speared his fingers into her hair. “But what I really don’t like is the idea that another man might look at you in it, and want to touch you the way I touch you.”
He leaned into her neck, and pressed his lips against her skin. There was nothing gentle in the kiss. His lips were hot and angry, and she felt his teeth nip her skin. A sting of pain raced through her, but it was a good pain, a pain that made her long for more.

Lauren lives in California with her husband, children, and dogs.
She loves hearing from readers! Her bestselling series include Caught Up in Love, Seductive Nights, and Fighting Fire. She recently released Nights With Him, a standalone novel in her New York Times Bestselling Seductive Nights series that became an instant New York Times Bestseller. Her next book in that series is Forbidden Nights, releasing in early 2015. She also writes for young adults under the name Daisy Whitney. Message from the author:
I'm so thrilled that the Seductive Nights erotic romance series is continuing with a new installment starring a new couple! This series has been such a joy to write since it started as a fan-driven series, with Julia and Clay, and then Jack and Michelle, and now this this new novel is about Nate and Casey. Readers requested that I write their story next, so I did! FORBIDDEN NIGHTS can be read without having read the earlier books.
(Though, why wouldn't you want to meet the other couples?!)
I can't wait to introduce readers to Nate Harper and Casey Sullivan. They’re a dynamic duo and many early readers are saying this is their favorite story yet! Nate knows exactly who, and what he wants, and is thrilled when the opportunity he’s dreamed about for years presents herself to him. Expect many steamy encounters between these two!

Review: 32 Seconds by Johanna K. Pitcairn

Genre: Young Adult
Publication date: November 5th, 2014
Publisher: The Manicheans
Read: January 2015
Pages: 380
Rating: 3/5

Summary:
To the average onlooker, the city of Los Angeles represents glitz, glamour, and the celebrity lifestyle. But to seventeen-year-old Julie Jones, the city is a vast host of problems she’s longing to get away from. The latest? An unfortunate disagreement with her ex-boyfriend Mark—one that could land her in some serious hot water.

So rather than face the troubles that torment her, Julie decides to run away from her old life and start fresh somewhere new. But her parents aren’t on board with the plan, and she soon finds her bank accounts frozen and her wallet empty.

With just seventy-five dollars and a full tank of gas, the troubled teen is far too stubborn to turn around and head home. So what’s a girl to do?

What Julie doesn’t know is that her travels are about to take her somewhere unexpected—a place where she’ll be forced to come face to face with the ghosts of her past in order to secure her future.

A tale of redemption, hope, and freedom lost and found, 32 Seconds is a thought-provoking exploration into the human spirit and the nature of forgiveness.

My Review:

I received a manuscript of this book for an honest review.

I actually didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book. I read the summary before I signed up to review this but then I forgot what was the story about when I started reading it last month. I didn't read the summary again because I figured maybe it was best for me to read it without knowing much about the story. I honestly liked how it started but I hated Julie. She was so stubborn!

I liked how she traveled to this place(her mind) where she met people from her past. At first I thought they were all strangers because Julie didn't seem to recognize any of them but then when Evan started explaining her what she was doing in her mind, I already knew what was going to happen. I have to admit that it was predictable and some parts were a bit too long.

However, I still liked the book because of its message. A lot of people can relate to Julie. I can't relate to her but I know people who can. I loved how she learned from her mistakes and she tried to fix all of them and tried to change her life. In the real world, many people think the only way to escape misery is to kill themselves and I think those people should read this book because maybe they'll learn from Julie, who knows right?

Will I re-read this book? Probably not.
Will you enjoy reading it? Possible.
Is it worth reading? Yes.

Excerpt:
A sudden shower pelted my windshield, reducing the visibility to almost nothing, but I maintained my speed. The black asphalt licked the bottom of my tires, striking every inch of the rubber, hungry to swallow me whole and transport me to my next destination. And at this point, I could go anywhere. Eager to get out, I didn’t even care whether I died in a car-crash. After what had happened between Mark and me earlier today, it truly was my way or the highway.
Planning my escape wisely hadn’t crossed my mind when I ignited the V8 turbo engine and dashed out of the school parking lot like a hoodlum in panic of being chased and caught by a platoon of law enforcement officials, after an unsuccessful bank heist. Like I said, I wanted out. And whatever I wanted, I achieved by any means necessary.
Running away brought me closer to freedom. No consequences for my actions. No guilt. No pain.
As my foot pressed harder on the gas pedal, I listened to the roar of the engine, which threatened to remind me of the overbearing loneliness I continued to ignore. My hand reached for the radio and I turned the volume to high. My head needed that noise to overwrite any internal monologues. Relentless, like waves on the shore, my thoughts wouldn’t stop crashing inside my brain, giving rise to a series of hot and cold sweats, while my inner self kept screaming the same question.
Why did I always have to run?

Saturday: Weekly Wrap-Up!

I finally finished reading this book. My exam was postponed for next Tuesday. I really had a hard time reading this book and I don't know how well or how bad I'm going to do on my exam. I just hope I'll pass. I started reading some books I have to review but I haven't finished any. This week, I focused more on "Le Survenant" and school work.

I can't wait for next Friday, the 13th!!! I'm going to watch FIFTY SHADES OF GREY with my girlfriends. I read the books and the first book was a little traumatizing since it was the first erotic novel I've read, but the last two books were awesome.

That's about it for this week. I know my week seemed really boring but I hope I can read more next week.

Have a nice weekend.

Review: Her Gaze by Angel A.

Genre: Short story/ Romance
Publication date: February 2nd, 2015
Read: January 2015
Pages: 40
Rating: 3/5

*Received an ARC*

Summary:
At that moment, Gabe knew he had fallen for her. The first time he laid eyes on Sofy he knew that she was for him and he was hers. However, she was already taken by a dangerous man. A man that would kill before letting her go. But Gabe was willing to put his life in harm’s way to be with the woman he was in love with.

This suspenseful and sexy short story is full of excitement. It gives joy to the imagination and makes the heart beat a little faster.

My review:
Honestly, I was really confused at the beginning. For some reason I didn't know if it was a girl or a guy who was talking. I find it really weird how the guy felt about the girl seeing her for the first time. It might be love at first sight but it was still creepy. I didn't love this book but I'm not going to hate on it because  I don't see any point. Angel A. worked hard to write this story and it wasn't awful. I just didn't like it as much as I wanted to.

Review:Until The End(Sea Breeze #9) by Abbi Glines

Genre: New Adult/ Romance
Publication date: October 28th, 2014
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Read: January 2015
Pages: 271
Rating: 5/5

Summary:
The backstory that fans have been clamoring for—how Rock and Trisha fell in love—is the final installment in the Sea Breeze series from New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines. And don’t miss the sizzling Epilogue, where Abbi wraps up all the Sea Breeze couples’ stories!

Trisha Corbin always knew how to hide a bruise. With her momma’s boyfriends unable to keep their hands off of her, she had no choice. And as long as it meant the guys wouldn’t go near her little brother, Krit, it was worth it. But her days of dreaming that Prince Charming would ever come rescue her are far, far in the past.

Rock Taylor always had a plan. Through football, he would rise above the life he was born into. A full ride to play for a major college team was within his reach—assuming he didn’t let anything get in his way. But scoring a date with the hottest girl in Sea Breeze was proving harder than expected. Trisha Corbin was every man’s walking fantasy, and she wouldn’t even glance his way.

When Rock finally does get Trisha in his truck, it isn’t for a date. It’s because he picks her up on the side of the road, beaten and bruised and walking to the local hospital. Before Rock knows it, football is no longer his life. Trisha Corbin is. And he’ll do anything to save her. And keep her.

In addition to Rock and Trisha’s love story, this special novel contains the wrap-up stories of all your favorite Sea Breeze couples: Sadie and Jax, Marcus and Low, Cage and Eva, Preston and Amanda, Jess and Jason, Krit and Blythe, and Dewayne and Sienna.

My review:

"With one look, that girl had changed my dreams." -Rock
Rock and Trish' love story was a love at first sight. I loved Trish' character in the previous books and It was nice to finally read her thoughts. It was so beautiful to read how Rock took care of both Trish and Krit after knowing how they were living/suffering at home. Rock was willing to sacrifice everything for Trish and that might sound cheesy but I guess that's just true love. He was committed to her and it was cute. I also wanted to add that Krit was really creeping me out with his actions back then. O.o

"Because I don't want to be your friend Trisha, I want to be yours."-Rock
Seriously, the "Can we be friends?" quotes is getting pretty old lol. We all know guys from this series don't ask girls to be their friend unless they really want the girl to like them back.

*THE EPILOGUES*

"I don't want to love him. But I do. So much."-Breathe(Book1)
This epilogue shocked me a bit at the beginning. Wow. I never expected the plot twist to their story. I'm not going to say anything more because I don't want to spoil you guys but yeah, you might panic a bit reading this one.

"My fairy tale wasn't over. It was just the beginning."-Because Of Low(Book2)
I loved Marcus and Low's love story. It was so sweet and cute. I'm glad they're happy with their life being married with a son and an upcoming babyyyyy. I loved reading their epilogue.

"He was my one."-Just For Now(Book4)
This one was a little bit funny. Preston's reaction in the beginning was hilarious and of course the surprise before the wedding haha. Only Preston Drake alright.

"My wife. Damn, I was a lucky son of a bitch."-Misbehaving(Book6)
I still can't believe how much Jess has changed throughout this series. She was a bitch back then and in this epilogue, she was so insecure and always thought she didn't deserve Jason. I'm glad they had their happy ending.

"My heart was complete  with you."-Bad For You(Book7)
Bad for you was my favorite of this series and this ending was a bit funny. Oh Krit. Such a sweetheart and Blythe was perfect as always.

"I want to be able to say 'Have you met my wife, Sienna?'"-Hold On Tight(Book8)
Dewayne was really different in this epilogue. He wasn't the guy I met all the way back in Book 1 anymore. He's going to be a great husband and dad no doubt.

"Fate happens, and it's better than what you had imagined in the first place."-While It Lasts & Sometimes It Lasts(Book3 & Book5)
I loved this. Eva, Cage and their daughter were just perfect! In real life you wouldn't imagine a guy like Cage getting married with kids. If only all guys like him could realize there is that one woman who is worth changing for.

10 years later... #lastepilogue
I'm not going to spoil this but I totally had my mouth wide open after reading the very last sentence. O.M.G!

It saddens me to know that this is the final book in the series. I really loved the Sea Breeze series  and as much as I loved and enjoyed every single story, it's still sad to know it's finally over.

I really recommend all of these books. I recommend all books by Abbi Glines, they're short (about 200 pages) but you'd feel like you've read more than that. I didn't read all of her books YET but I've read all of the Rosemary Beach series and this series and I can honestly say that I loved her writing and her love stories. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
